Texas native Robert Froehner specializes in two unusual and rarely-performed instruments--the musical saw and theremin. This innovative DFW musician appears in a wide variety of venues ranging from orchestral and other large ensemble performances, to recitals, conventions, banquets, and private parties. He has won international musical saw competitions on three occasions, and has recorded for commercials and film. Robert is also proficient on the theremin, the world's first electronic musical instrument and the only musical instrument played without touch. By careful use of aerial fingering within two electromagnetic fields he is able to play the instrument using only the electricity of his own body. Robert's repertoire ranges from classical to pop, country, rock, jazz, and other genres. He has appeared on several occasions with the Dallas Symphony, as well as the Pacific Symphony, the United States Coast Guard Band, the Texas Wind Symphony, East Texas Symphony, Metropolitan Winds of Dallas, and other ensembles. He has also performed at Silver Dollar City in Branson, Six Flags Over Texas, the Grapevine Opry, the Texas Folklike Festival, Fort Worth's Main Street Arts Festival, Taste of Dallas, and the Frisco Roughriders ballpark.
